April Ipsy Bag

I had previously subscribed to Ipsy last year because I was really intrigued by the whole subscription box craze. I decided to go with Ipsy after doing quite a bit of comparing to other boxes, but after receiving a few bags I just wasn’t impressed with the products in them so I decided to unsubscribe. Recently I have been seeing Ipsy provide better products in their bags so I thought why not give them another shot? I finally received it in the mail last week so I am going to show you the products that I received in April’s Ipsy Bag.

First you get a card with a contest that’s currently running on one side, and on the other it tells you to visit the Ipsy site for offers. You typically get a certain percent off your order which I think it nice. When I took all of the products out of the bag I was really quite impressed. This bag is way better than the others I have previously received and I am really glad that I resubscribed. I just hope that they continue with bags this amazing.

  1. Kiss Looks So Natural Lashes in Sultry
  2. Cailyn Tinted Lip Balm in Acid Pink
  3. Urban Decay 24/7 Pencil in Black Velvet
  4. City Color Mousse Eyeshadow in White Gold
  5. Benefit Lolltint

The Kiaa lashes are really pretty and taper out at the ends. They also have a nearly invisible band so they will really blend in with your natural lashes and would be great for every day wear. The tinted lip balm is a crazy vibrant pink and I find it to be more of a lipstick than a balm. It’s on the drying side, but the pigment is out of this world. Definitely not a colour I would wear during the day but I would wear it on a night out. I am a huge fan of the Urban Decay 24/7 pencils and I was so excited when I saw they included their new Black Velvet pencil in April’s bag. It’s creamy, very pigmented and lasts a good amount of time on the waterline. This is my new favourite black pencil liner. When I first looked at the City Color eyeshadow I thought it was a pigment. To my surprise when I swatched it it turned out to be a mousse. I’ve never tried a mousse eyeshadow before so I am not sure how I will get along with it since I have oily lids. It may act really nicely as a base to a powder eye shadow. It’s a white with gold shimmer to it and is just stunning! Last but certainly not least is the Benefit Lollitint. They came out with this product not too long ago and I saw so many blog reviews on it. It’s a liquid lip and cheek stain and is the prettiest shade of pink. I love how quick and easy it is to use as it has a little brush and it stays put on the cheeks for hours. Be sure to work with it quickly as it sets extremely fast. Ipsy, you have redeemed yourself and I am very much looking forward to May’s bag!

Branching Out: Beauty Brands

In the past few months I have started trying beauty products from various different brands. They have been brands that I have wanted to try for a really long time but just never really got around to buying from them as I didn’t live near a Sephora or store that sold them. Buying online can be risky so now that I live near a Sephora it’s been much easier to swatch and test out the products in store before committing to buy. I’ve really enjoyed branching out and expanding my collection and I wanted to share some of the brands that I have recently added and have been loving.

Anastasia Beverly Hills. Everyone knows about ABH Brow Wiz, or her most recent popular release called the Dip Brow Pomade. When I was younger I had really full brows but once I discovered tweezers I plucked them into submission. I have been trying to go for the fuller brow look because it not only makes you look more youthful, but I actually just prefer it on my face shape. I caved in and purchased the Brow Wiz in Caramel and I am loving how easy it is to shape my brows, fill in any sparse areas and make them look clean and tidy whilst still looking natural. I completely understand why everyone hyped up her products so much because they truly are the best.

Josie Maran has an extensive range of Argan Oil infused products that are truly luxurious. She started out with her Argan Oil moisturizer which I have been using religiously (review here). I recently went out and picked out another product of hers since I enjoyed the moisturizing oil so much which is the Argan Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil. I will have a review of this coming up on my blog in the near future.

Make Up Forever. Another brand that everyone knows and loves. Their HD products have taken the beauty world by storm and I have fallen in love with their newest addition to their HD line, their cream blush in #210 (review here). The formula is so creamy, pigmented and long wearing that I am lusting over almost every shade. They have really made a great first impression which has me wanting to try out more of their products. Next on my list is their HD foundation!

Last but certainly not least is Bite Beauty. I first heard about Bite on Makeup By Tiffany D’s channel because she raves about their lipstick in Fig all the time. I went on the Sephora site and was looking through their products and saw such amazing reviews on their High Pigment Pencils that I knew I had to try one. I then went and picked up the shade Corvina, a bright orange coral, and about a week later went and picked up another shade because I enjoyed the first one so much. Their products are made up of 98% all natural, food grade ingredients and are certified organic. You really can’t find anything better than that!

I think it’s good to branch out and give different brands a chance. You never know what products could surprise you and end becoming a holy grail item in your makeup collection! What beauty brands have you recently tried out that you have been loving?

NYX Cosmetics Haul

NYX Cosmetics Haul

A few weeks ago I made a NYX order and have been anxiously waiting for it’s arrival. I ordered online because there isn’t a very great variety of NYX products in the Target near me and all of their products are usually always opened and tested which it quite annoying. I have been wanting to get my hands on the butter glosses and lipsticks for such a long time that I couldn’t wait any longer to try them. All of the products came in a cute lace drawstring bag with the NYX logo on the side which I thought was really cute. I mostly got lip products but there are some blushes thrown into the mix as well.

NYX Cosmetics Haul

NYX just recently came out with some baked blushes and after seeing some swatches online I had to get a few for myself. The first one I got is in Wanderlust, a bronzey pink shade, and Foreplay, a dusty rose. I have been on a cream blush kick lately so I picked up  Boho Chic which is a cult favourite, and Tickled which in all honesty wasn’t what I expected. It has a ton of gold shimmers in it so I will have to see if I can work with it. I wanted an eye base that would mute out any discoloration on my lids so I went with the skin tone base. I am looking forward to trying that out and seeing if it will keep my eye shadow on without any creasing.

Next up is the lip products. As I mentioned earlier I have been lusting over the butter glosses and lipsticks so I picked up a few of each. For the glosses I got Peaches & Cream, Vanilla Cream Pie, Apple Strudel, Maple Blondie and Strawberry Parfait. These glosses smell heavenly! I seriously cannot get over how great they smell. As for the lipsticks I picked up Lollies, Sweet Tart, Fizzies, and Candy Buttons. These have no smell, sadly, but I am very excited to try these out!

Continuing on with the lip trend I picked up three of their Matte lipsticks in Tea Rose, Summer Breeze, and Hippie Chic. I thought Summer Breeze and Hippie Chic will be great Spring/Summer colours. In their Round Lipstick line I chose Femme, and Fig. Femme turned out to be a lot more orange that I expected, and Fig a bit darker. Now you can’t go lipstick crazy without picking up some lip liners so I got Nectar, and Plush Red. I certainly have enough lip products to last me for quite a while now and I can’t wait to start playing around with them.
